For ghostly photos of grandiose mausoleums, make your way to the impressive Cementerio de la Recoleta. Tombstones from hundreds of years ago rest at this extraordinary graveyard – many of them severely eaten away by time.

Here are some of our favourite shots from Cementerio de la Recoleta.

The cemetery is a home to hundreds of tombstones, crosses and life-size statues of the wealthy and powerful who had been buried here (most notably, Argentina’s beloved first lady, Eva Peron).

To create stunning shots of the sun peeking through the tombstones, get here for the ‘magic hour’ – shortly after sunrise, or just before sunset.
